1. The principle
HeyNum is built for people who want a private, flexible phone line: to protect their personal number, separate work and life, sell online, travel or stay reachable. Privacy is not impunity. If you use HeyNum to harm others, you'll lose access to it.
2. What you must not do
You must not use HeyNum, directly or indirectly, to:
- break the law, or help anyone else break it;
- commit fraud or scams, including phishing by text (“smishing”) or by phone (“vishing”), fake payment requests or fake delivery notices;
- harass, threaten, stalk or intimidate anyone, or send hateful or abusive content;
- impersonate a person, a company, a bank or a public authority, or mislead people about who you are in order to harm them;
- send spam or unsolicited messages, or make unsolicited marketing calls;
- use autodialers, robocalls, bulk texting tools or any form of automated or high-volume calling and messaging;
- create accounts in bulk on other services, sell or trade verified accounts, or get around another service's limits or bans;
- resell or redistribute numbers or the service without our written agreement;
- generate artificial traffic, such as calls to premium numbers or traffic pumping;
- interfere with the service, other users or the networks we connect to, or try to access accounts or data that aren't yours;
- share illegal content of any kind.
3. Fair use
Each number includes 1,000 minutes and 1,000 texts a month to numbers in its country, for normal personal and professional use — the kind of use a person makes of their own phone. Fair use excludes call centres, telemarketing, automated or bulk messaging and any use that resembles a phone system for many people on a single number.
Calls and texts beyond the allowance are charged as calling credit. Unusual traffic may be reviewed: we'll contact you before taking any action.
4. Verification codes
You may use your number to receive verification codes for your own accounts. Using HeyNum to create accounts in bulk, to verify accounts on behalf of others for payment, or to evade the rules of another service is not allowed.
5. What happens if the rules are broken
Depending on how serious the breach is, we may warn you, limit features, suspend a number or close your account, without refund beyond what the law requires. We act immediately in cases of fraud, threats or risk to others. We cooperate with competent authorities when we receive a valid legal request.
6. Reporting abuse
If you receive spam, a scam or harassment from a HeyNum number, report it to abuse@heynum.com. Include the number, the date and time, and if possible a screenshot. We review every report and take action where it's justified.
