Getting started

What is HeyNum?

HeyNum gives you a real mobile number in one of 19 countries that you use in your web browser: calls, texts, verification codes and voicemail on your computer, tablet and phone. There's no app to install, no SIM card and no ID check.

How do I get a number?

Choose a country on our numbers page, choose monthly or yearly billing, and check out with your email address. Your number is live as soon as your payment is confirmed.

Do I need to install an app?

No. HeyNum runs in your web browser on any computer, tablet or phone. Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge all work. You can add it to your home screen for one-tap access, but that's entirely optional.

Which browsers and devices are supported?

Recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS, and Safari or Chrome on iPhone, iPad and Android. On iPhone and iPad, you need Safari 16.4 or later. See the full requirements.

Can I add HeyNum to my home screen?

Yes. On iPhone or iPad, open heynum.com in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android, open it in Chrome and choose Install app from the ⋮ menu. On a computer, click the install icon in Chrome or Edge's address bar.

How fast will I get my number?

Instantly. Your number is assigned and live the moment your payment is confirmed — no waiting, no activation call, no paperwork.

Your number

Is it a real mobile number?

Yes. Every HeyNum number is a genuine mobile number from the country you pick — for example +44 7… in the UK or +33 7… in France — never a landline. People can call and text it like any other mobile.

Can I choose my number?

We assign the next available mobile number in the country you choose, so it's live right away. For the US, Canada and Puerto Rico, ask us before you order if you need a specific area code.

Can I keep my number?

Yes. Your number stays yours for as long as your subscription is active. Pick yearly billing to lock it in for 12 months and get two months free.

Is my number new or recycled?

Mobile numbers are a limited resource, so like every carrier we do reuse them — but only after a long quarantine, and we check each number before it's yours. If something's wrong in your first 14 days, we swap it for free.

Can I have several numbers?

Yes. Add as many numbers as you need, in one or several countries, and manage them all from one inbox. Each number is billed on its own.

Can I bring my existing number to HeyNum?

Not yet. Porting an existing number into HeyNum isn't available today: every HeyNum number is a new line, delivered instantly.

Can I transfer my HeyNum number to another provider?

Where the rules of the number's country allow it, yes. Contact support and we'll give you the information your new provider needs.

Calls

How do I make a call?

Open HeyNum, tap the keypad or a recent contact, and call. The first time, your browser asks for permission to use your microphone — accept it, and you're set.

The other person can't hear me. What should I do?

Check that your browser is allowed to use your microphone (the padlock or settings icon in the address bar), that the right microphone is selected in HeyNum's call settings, and that no other app is using it. Restarting the browser usually fixes the rest.

What happens to calls when HeyNum is closed?

Callers reach your voicemail, or the phone you forward calls to. You'll find a missed-call notification and any message in your inbox.

How much data does a call use?

Roughly 0.3 to 0.6 MB per minute, depending on your connection. Around 100 kbit/s is enough for an HD call.

Can I call other countries?

Yes, with pay-as-you-go credit. Calls to your number's country use its 1,000 included minutes a month; calls to other countries are charged per minute at the rates shown here.

Can I call emergency services?

No. Like most internet-based phone services, HeyNum doesn't support emergency numbers such as 112, 911 or 999. Please keep a regular mobile line for emergencies.

Messages & codes

Can I receive SMS verification codes?

Yes. Codes arrive in your inbox in real time. Because HeyNum numbers are real mobile numbers, they work with most apps and websites — but every service sets its own rules, and a few may refuse numbers they don't recognise.

My verification code didn't arrive. What can I do?

Check you entered your number in full, with the right country code. Wait a minute, then request a new code — or a voice call instead. If nothing arrives, the service may not accept numbers like ours: tell us which one and we'll look into it.

Can I use my number with WhatsApp, Telegram or Signal?

These apps verify your number with a code by SMS or phone call, which your HeyNum number can receive. Each app decides which numbers it accepts, so we can't guarantee it — but our real mobile numbers give you the best chance. Keep the number active as long as you use the app.

Can I receive texts from short codes?

Messages from short codes — 5 or 6 digit senders, mostly used in the US — may not be delivered to HeyNum numbers. Messages from regular numbers and from named senders (like “YourBank”) are delivered normally.

Can I send and receive photos?

Picture messages (MMS) are supported on US, Canadian and Puerto Rico numbers. Numbers in other countries send and receive standard SMS.

Can I text numbers in other countries?

Yes. Texts to your number's country are included with your number (1,000 a month); texts to other countries use pay-as-you-go credit at the SMS rate of the destination.

Voicemail & forwarding

How do I record my voicemail greeting?

Open your number's settings, choose Voicemail, and record a greeting with your microphone. You can re-record it at any time, and each number can have its own.

How do voicemail transcripts work?

Every voicemail is transcribed automatically, so you can read it instead of listening. Transcripts can contain mistakes, especially with background noise.

How do I forward calls to another phone?

In your number's settings, add the phone to forward to and choose when: always, when you're offline, or when you don't answer. Forwarded calls use your included minutes, or credit if you forward abroad.

How do I get notifications?

Accept notifications when HeyNum asks. On iPhone and iPad, add HeyNum to your home screen first (Safari 16.4 or later). You can also turn on email alerts for missed calls, texts and voicemail.

Billing & payments

What's included in the price?

Everything. Each number comes with 1,000 minutes and 1,000 texts a month to numbers in its country, unlimited incoming calls, texts and codes, visual voicemail with transcripts, call forwarding, schedules and auto-replies, the spam shield and support from real humans. There are no tiers or upgrades. See everything that's included.

What if I use more than 1,000 minutes or texts?

We email you when you reach 80% of your monthly allowance. Beyond it, calls and texts to your number's country use pay-as-you-go credit at the rates shown here, and your allowance starts again at the beginning of your next month.

Which payment methods do you accept?

Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Crypto (BTC, ETH, USDT, USDC). Card details are handled by our PCI DSS–certified payment processor; we never see your full card number.

Is the price the same wherever I live?

Yes. The price depends only on the country of your number — never on where you live or where your SIM card comes from. Taxes are included.

How does yearly billing work?

You pay for 12 months at the price of 10. We email you before every yearly renewal, and you can switch off automatic renewal at any time.

How do I cancel?

In one click from your account. Your number stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, and you won't be charged again.

What if a payment fails?

Nothing disappears overnight. We email you straight away and keep your number on hold for 14 days, so you have time to update your card.

Can I get a refund?

If your number doesn't work as described, tell us within 14 days and we'll replace it or refund you. EU and UK customers can also withdraw within 14 days and get a refund for the unused part. All the details are in our refund policy.

How do I get an invoice?

Every payment comes with an invoice in your account, downloadable as PDF. Add your company name and VAT number in your billing settings to have them on your invoices.

Account & privacy

Do you ask for ID or KYC documents?

No. HeyNum is no-KYC: an email address is all we need. No passport, no selfie, no proof of address.

What data do you keep about me?

Your email address, payment confirmations, records of your calls and texts, and the messages and voicemails in your inbox. Nothing else. See privacy & security and our privacy policy.

How do I delete my account?

Cancel your numbers, then close your account in your settings. Your data is erased within 30 days, except invoices we're legally required to keep.

How do I secure my account?

Use a strong, unique password and turn on two-factor authentication with an authenticator app in your security settings.

I received spam from a HeyNum number. What should I do?

Report it to abuse@heynum.com with the number, the date and a screenshot if you can. Abuse breaks our acceptable use policy and leads to suspension.

Is HeyNum anonymous?

We don't ask for ID and your number isn't listed in any directory, so your HeyNum number keeps your identity private from the people you contact. We still keep the limited data needed to run the service, and we respond to valid legal requests.

Business use

Can I use HeyNum for my business?

Yes. Get a professional number in any of our 19 countries — or one per activity or market — set business hours and auto-replies, forward calls to the right phone, and add your company details and VAT number to your invoices. See HeyNum for business.

Can several people answer the same number?

Calls ring on every device where your HeyNum account is open, and you can forward a number to any phone — for example to whoever is on duty, during business hours. Each number belongs to one account.

How many numbers can a business have?

As many as you need. Every number is billed on its own, monthly or yearly, at the price of its country. If you need more than 20 numbers, talk to us and we'll help you set them up.
